Walking Points Podcast: Episode 32 This week Ian and I begin a new series that goes along with the focus of our church during this Lenten season. Listen to the podcast to learn how you can get connected here at Southside and work through the checkup with your church family. Or, gather some friends together and do the checkup with them, no matter where you live. We are recording and posting these one week ahead of the small groups. So, if you're a leader (or even if you aren't), you can watch and/or listen to the podcast to get some ideas you may want to share with your small group. And now... you can download the podcast and listen to it whenever and wherever you would like. Blessings, Dale ![]()
Walking Points Podcast: Episode 29
This week Ian and I continue talking about what it means to be a peacemaker and where it all begins. Christian peacemaking is a God-centered approach to resolving personal conflicts. Thus, we have to start with the most important part, which is, seeking God's glory, even in the midst of conflict. Walking Points Podcast, Episode 21
This week's podcast is on a tough subject: forgiving ourselves. Ian and I discuss the book, How to Forgive Ourselves Totally, by R.T. Kendall. What makes letting go of guilt from the past so tough? Why do some find it easier to forgive others but not themselves? These are a few of the questions Ian and I wrestle with this week. Walking Points Podcast: Episode 20
How well and/or often do you practice the spiritual discipline of fasting? While recently studying the Sermon on the Mount, some of the men in our small group were surprised to read the words of Jesus, "when you fast..." His teaching on the subject carried with it the expectation that his followers would be practicing it. And yet, as small as the amount of Christians who regularly pray is, those who regularly fast is even smaller. Yikes! On this week's episode, Ian and I interact with Donald Whitney's great chapter on fasting from his book, Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life. I think it's fair to say Ian and I were both convicted to more faithfully pursue this spiritual discipline in our lives. Whitney provides some wonderful guidance toward that end. You can order Whitney's book by clicking here. It really is a very fine book. I've used it twice with my church's men's groups. Enjoy this week's podcast, Dale Walking Points Podcast: Episode 16
This week Ian and I compare our physical health and fitness with our spiritual health and fitness. In particular, we discuss eight areas that are good to have a handle on at the beginning of the journey. And, in the event we didn't learn those things at the beginning of our walk with Christ, it's good to learn them now. The article I refer to in the podcast can be found here. Enjoy the podcast.
